Featured blog carousel

Highlight selected articles from one Shopify blog.

Featured blog carousel brings editorial content into a storefront page. Use it for recent stories, guides, campaigns, or product education that should remain connected to a Shopify blog.

[!NOTE] The settings and defaults below match the current section schema. A fresh approved desktop/mobile fixture is still needed for final card-density, focus, and carousel-transition guidance.

In Shopify's theme editor, add Featured blog carousel to a compatible template or open an existing section. It is not available in the header or overlay groups.

Blog

SettingWhat it controlsOptions or default
BlogSelects the Shopify blog whose articles are shown. No default.
EyebrowShort label above the section heading.Default: Journal.
HeadingMain heading for the article group.Default: From the journal.
TextOptional rich text below the heading. No default.
Heading alignmentAligns the section heading and supporting copy.Left, Center, or Right. Default: Left.
Heading sizeChanges the hierarchy of the section heading.Small, Medium, or Large. Default: Medium.
View all labelText for the link to the complete blog.Default: View all stories.
View all linkDestination for that link.No default. When blank, it uses the selected blog.

Select the blog before judging the section. With no selected blog, or a selected blog with no articles, the section renders onboarding placeholder cards rather than live article cards.

Articles

SettingWhat it controlsOptions or default
Articles to showMaximum number of articles rendered from the selected blog.Range 2–12, step 1. Default: 6.
Show dateShows each article's publication date and reading-time metadata.Enabled by default.
Show excerptShows the article excerpt when available.Enabled by default.
Show tagsShows article tags when the article has tags.Disabled by default.

Articles follow the selected blog's article order. A featured image is used when available; an article without one uses the theme's placeholder treatment. The excerpt uses the article excerpt or article content as a fallback and is shortened for the card, so review long and short source articles in preview.

When more than one live article is available, previous and next controls are provided for the carousel. If the blog has zero or one article, do not expect live carousel navigation.

Spacing

SettingWhat it controlsOptions or default
Section spacingChooses the section's spacing scale.None, Small, Medium, or Large. Default: Medium.
Top spacingAdds or removes the section's top spacing.Enabled by default.
Bottom spacingAdds or removes the section's bottom spacing.Enabled by default.

Desktop and mobile behavior

Every article card links to its article title and includes the standard read-more action. Keep titles and excerpts comparable so the card group remains easy to scan. The exact number of visible cards, horizontal overflow, and transition treatment must be checked in the current accepted desktop and mobile build; do not infer those details from the schema alone.

Accessibility and motion

Use descriptive article titles, meaningful featured-image alt text in the source article, and tags only when they help navigation. Test previous/next controls and each article link with keyboard focus. Do not make essential information available only in a moving card or excerpt.

Evidence boundary

No screenshot is attached to this guide yet. Capture only approved article fixtures and crop out admin, account, and private store context. A final interaction guide needs fresh desktop/mobile evidence for card visibility, focus, touch, and reduced-motion behavior.
